The Rappaw Physio & Hydrotherapy practice is run by Helen Taylor out of Rappaw Veterinary Care in Porirua. Helen is a qualified human physiotherapist with over 20 years experience, who has transitioned into the canine rehabilitation world. She can provide extra help your canine may need with mobility, rehabilitation, injury recovery or a conditions such as arthritis.


Helen says “I believe there is a lot that can be done to help pets recover optimally after surgery or injury, pretty much in the same way as humans. The evidence in this area of canine hydrotherapy & physiotherapy is growing rapidly worldwide. It feels a very exciting time to be part of advancing canine physiotherapy.”

Helen provides in-depth rehabilitation assessments, advice & instruction on exercise programmes, treatments with modalities such as Laser, TENS, PEMF, therapeutic massage, & hydrotherapy with an underwater treadmill. All treatment plans are individual to your pets needs.


She is also supported by qualified vet nurse hydrotherapist, who assists with hydrotherapy appointments.


Helen’s qualifications include;

  • Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy (Hons) (BSc Physiotherapy) - University of Brighton. UK (1999)

  • Level 3 Certificate in Canine Hydrotherapy (2020)

  • Certified Canine Rehabilitation Therapist (CCRT) - Canine Rehabilitation Institute, USA

  • Member New Zealand Association of Canine Hydrotherapists (NZACH)

  • Member of Physiotherapy New Zealand (PNZ)

  • NZ Physiotherapy Board registered (NZPB)
